Orlando Offers all Generations a Diverse Experience Beyond Theme Parks

For folks young and old, Orlando is a destination full of reminiscing and dreams; where many can relive their childhood family vacations or their childhood dreams of visiting a number of amusement parks and museums. Orlando provides baby boomers with a great place to vacation, whether it’s alone or with their children and grandchildren.

An endless amount of entertainment exists for a wide audience of all ages, and the magic of Orlando can be shared with multiple generations.  For those looking for supplementary destinations beyond the big theme parks, we have a few suggestions the whole family can enjoy.

One of Orlando’s best-kept secrets is the Fantasy of Flight Museum, which houses the largest collection of private vintage and restored aircraft in the world.  Over 40 rare planes in the collection have been restored to flying conditions.  Flight simulators, interactive exhibits, daily aerial demonstrations, themed immersion experiences and guided tours are available at Fantasy of Flight.

Fantasy of Flight is a great place for the whole family.  Younger generations will be excited about the exhibits and stories, and older generations can wax nostalgic, hopping aboard planes used in both World Wars.  From October through May, guests of Fantasy of Flight can take advantage of the seasonally available biplane and hot air balloon rides.

Purchasing a Loch Haven Cultural Pass saves ticketholders 20% off of regular adult ticket prices to The Mennello Museum of American Art and the Orlando Science Center.  Guests may enjoy one of the nation’s best hands-on science centers, deemed by Newsweek to be “one of the best museums in the South,” in addition to a variety of contemporary American folk art and nationally renowned exhibitions of American art.  These museums reflect a different side of the rich history of Central Florida than the side many are familiar with from theme park visits.

Lake Eola is a natural body of water in Downtown Orlando, Florida.  Located in Lake Eola Park, it was created naturally by a sinkhole with a depth of about 80 feet.

Established in 1888, the park and pond were part of the first parcel of land donated to the City of Orlando by several local families.  Within four years, the area was officially a city park.  In its history, Eola Park has functioned as a zoo, a racetrack for horses, and at one time had a pier featuring a dancing area.  At one time, the park was the site of a local radio station’s broadcasting center.

The VUE is a new 36-story, 375-unit luxury condo high rise in downtown Orlando, on the corner of Rosalind Avenue and Robinson Street. Walking distance from the developing Performing Arts Center and a great selection of Orlando bars and restaurants, this downtown luxury urban living Orlando high rise overlooks Lake Eola and its surrounding park.
