Orlando and Central Florida Welcome ArtsFest Cultural Arts Festival

A 10-day, 205-event free arts and cultural festival is taking place now through February 14th in Orlando and areas of central Florida.

Presented by United Arts of central Florida, ArtsFest takes place throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake counties.  Rich in culture and entertainment, this festival spans 75 venues in central Florida.  Many events are occurring at the same time, and some of the best events are listed below.

Orlando’s Russian Ballet performs in Sanford, Florida from 7-9 p.m. tonight, with a full-length feature of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.  For more information, Call (407) 243-9933

Saturday in Winter Park at Rollins College Tiedtke Concert Hall at 7 p.m., the Bach Festivel Society choir will perform a preview of their upcoming performance for the 75th annual Bach Festival. Tickets and information are available by calling (407) 646-2182

Stardust Video & Coffee hosts Women Playwrights’ Initiative on Saturday from 7-8 p.m.  Great Bellied Women, a one-act performance is the story of a midwife and her daughter testing a potential apprentice with a staged delivery.  More information available by calling (407) 949-9596

Orange County Regional History center hosts Out of This World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television.  Admission is free and the event is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, February 9 and Saturday, February 13.  Orange County Regional History can be reached at (407) 836-8500

Award-winning MicheLee Puppet troupe presents shows aimed at children aged 2-7.  On Tuesday and Thursday they perform “SomeBunny Special” and on Friday February 12, “A Good Day for Pancake”. This performance takes place at the Downtown Orlando Information Center. (407) 898-7925

On Feb. 13th, Orlando Museum of Art offers earth-friendly creative family activities in the morning, and free admission all day.  Events are 10 a.m.-noon and noon-4 p.m.  For more information, call (407)896-4231.

Mennello Museum of American Art hosts the annual Orlando Folk Festival, presenting live folk music, stories, and crafting events. Celebrations occur 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 13 and noon-5 p.m. Feb. 14.  Mennello Museum of American Art can be reached at (407)246-4278.

February 13th the Orlando Gay Chorus celebrates it’s 20th year with a preview of their spring concert.  This event is on Feb 13 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Orlando Philharmonic Rehearsal Hall. (407) 841-7464

Mayor Carl T. Langford Park hosts a Valentine’s Day performance in the gazebo, with guests from the Central Florida Folk, Inc musician troupe from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Orlando.  (321) 749-9929

Also on Valentine’s day, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performs at Avalon Park in Orlando.  An “instrument petting zoo” will be available before the performance, where children can play with various musical instruments. More information available by calling (407) 770-0071.
