Mayor Buddy Dyer To Make State Of Downtown Orlando Address On Silver Screen

Having recently been a keynote speaker for Orlando Business Journal’s Downtown Update luncheon speaking on economic development efforts and business issues important to Orlando’s downtown, Mayor Buddy Dyer will soon be making it on the big screen.  This isn’t for an acting gig in Hollywood, though.  Mayor Dyer is gearing up for his “State of the Downtown” address, an annual address on topics of importance to downtown Orlando, including businesses, crime, real estate, retail and new bars, clubs and restaurants.

Dyer’s speech will be shown today on four big screens at the Plaza Cinema Café theatres, located at 155 S Orange Avenue, between Pine and Church streets in downtown Orlando.  Mayor Dyer’s speech is pre-recorded for the broadcast, and topics of discussion include the decline in crime rate in the core business district as well as in Parramore.  It is expected he will also commend Orlando police for the fifteen percent drop in violent crime in all of Orlando.

With downtown development being a major topic this year, representatives of Mayor Dyer say he will touch on the topic of new businesses that have opened in the past twelve months in downtown Orlando.  Last year’s “State of the Downtown” Address was focused on “growing downtown” as many new developments were in growth stages of development.  One of the more up-and-coming downtown developments is The VUE at Lake Eola, nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando.

The VUE is a new 36-story, 375-unit luxury condo high rise in downtown Orlando, on the corner of Rosalind Avenue and Robinson Street. Walking distance from the developing Performing Arts Center and a great selection of Orlando bars and restaurants, this luxury urban living downtown Orlando high rise overlooks Lake Eola and its surrounding park.
