Come join Orlando, Florida’s Juneteenth Music Festival starting this Saturday, June 12th to June 19, 2010. Orange County gained a unique place in the musical history of America when musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, B. B. King and Ray Charles entertained audiences decades ago. As we celebrate, the Wells’ Built Florida Juneteenth Music Festival will introduce students, visitors and residents to the jazz, blues and gospel music that was performed at the South Street Casino and the Wells’ Built Hotel from the 1930s through the 1960s. The Florida Juneteenth Music Festival will also introduce individuals to the Wells’ Built Museum of African American History and Culture and the historic William Monroe Wells Heritage House.
Starting Saturday, June 12th, enjoy Juneteenth Gospel’s Best at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church at 2025 W. Central Boulevard from 6 to 9pm. The week-long series of events also includes appearances by State Senator Gary Siplin, a Juneteenth Jazz Session Jam and more. Click here for a full schedule of events.
