This Friday, join hundreds of Central Floridians for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event at the Orange County Regional History Center in Downtown Orlando! Relay For Life has been celebrating those who have survived cancer and commemorating those who have lost their lives to cancer since the event was incepted in 1985. The life-changing event raises awareness and much-needed funds for research for a cure.
On May 21, 2010, teams will relay around the History Center on East Central Boulevard for 18 hours for the fight against cancer. There will be games, food, drinks and entertainment for participants and supporters. There are many Relay For Life teams throughout the nation. You may start your own team or join the Relay For Life of Downtown Orlando team with fellow downtown residents.
The walk begins at 6pm on Friday. Each team is asked to have at least one representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, the Relay For Life event is overnight and lasts for 18 hours. The money raised by participants will go towards support programs for cancer patients and research for a cure.
The History Center is located just two buildings over from The VUE Lake Eola condos in Downtown Orlando. Residents of the VUE Orlando are encouraged to come out and join the walk this Friday for a good cause. Along with other people who live and work in Downtown Orlando, Relay For Life is a wonderful way for VUE Lake Eola residents to give back to the community.
