Great news for thet downtown Orlando economy and job market. Thousands of jobs are expected to open up with the construction of the high-speed railroad that will be spanning central Florida.
Steve Olson, spokesman for Florida’s Department of Transportation, noted that many job inquiries have been made and many in need of work are in support of the railway projects. The hiring process can be expeted to occur as soon as 2011, as contractors will be added to payroll late summer or early fall of 2010, beginning an increase in employment rates into the next years.
The job availability also depends on when the funding for the SunRail and high-speed railway is received by Florida’s Department of Transportation, which is in charge of both central Florida rail projects.
The SunRail project is on target with the hiring process, as contractors have been signed for bringing the project on from start to completion. As of yet, the high-speed railway doesn’t have contractors yet. Each project depends on government funding and approvals that all paperwork for the funding agreement has been filled out properly and approved.
