Downtown Orlando Honors Veterans in 2009 Veterans Day Parade

As an integral part of the Orlando community, veterans make up more than 1.7 million Florida residents. This Veterans Day and year-round is a time to honor American military service providers across the United States and worldwide.

Veterans are an important part of the Central Florida community, and there are more than 1.7 million vets throughout the state.

The 2009 Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando will occur on Saturday, November 14 running from 10 a.m. to noon.  Marching bands and various floats including fifteen floats featured in Tampa’s Gasparilla parade will be on display to salute the men and women of over 150 Veterans’ associations and organizations throughout central Florida.

This year, the Veterans Day parade route begins near Orlando City Hall, at the intersection of Livingston Street and Orange Avenue, will turn left on Central Boulevard, left again on North Rosalind Avenue to pass along the west bank of historic Lake Eola, and finishes up back at Livingston Street.

For a great view of the parade and landscape, a great spot to snag is right along the west bank of Lake Eola. Residents enjoying luxury urban living at The VUE get an even better view – A parade on one side, and a beautiful lake and Eola Girl, the Lake Eola Fountain.

This fountain has been an icon of Orlando for nearly sixty years, and its image is found on street signs throughout downtown Orlando. A unique and beautiful work of art, Eola Girl has been embraced by Orlando residents as a symbol of Orlando for decades.

A new 36-story,  luxury condo high rise, The VUE overlooks Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, on the corner of Rosalind Avenue and Robinson Street.
