On Saturday, August 28, Trinity Downtown will present the 2nd annual Downtown BBQ Cook-off and Family Festival from 11am to 6pm on the Trinity Lutheran Church campus at 123 E. Livingston Street. The end-of-summer event features a BBQ cook-off showcasing professional and amateur teams from the Orlando area, paired with live entertainment and a kids play area.
20 to 25 teams of local grillers will face off starting with the same ingredients: Boston butt pork and chicken thighs, with the challenge of coming up with a unique and award-winning sauce, rub or secret recipe. They’ll be competing for $2,600 in prize money, including awards for Best Pulled Pork, Best BBQ Chicken, a $400 People’s Choice Award and a $1,000 Grand Champion award.
The People’s Choice Taste Test will be from 11am to 1pm with Taste Test wristbands available for $10. Taste Test wristbands provide pulled pork samples from each of the competing BBQ teams, plus baked beans and cole slaw, and a vote in the People’s Choice competition. Event proceeds will support the ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church – caring for Downtown Orlando since 1919.
