Lake Eola is expected to be the belle of the holiday ball this season. Orlando will be facing some budget cuts, but that doesn’t mean its citizens will be facing less beautiful lights to enjoy into the new year. This year’s city budget for season decorations is only $9,000. Just two years ago, the city spent $230,000 on holiday decorations and labor to decorate. Last year, the budget lowered to $130,000.
With this year’s significantly lowered budget, the city has cut out the Christmas tree at city hall, as well as lights decorating posts downtown. The only guaranteed holiday decoration staple that the city will be putting up is the 700-pound gold star that hangs over Orange Avenue downtown. According to city officials, Christmas trees, wreaths, flags and other décor will be staying in storage this year because of the budget cuts, and the annual tree-lighting ceremony at City Hall won’t be happening.
However, in light of decorating Lake Eola, Mayor Dyer has announced that not only will there be holiday trimmings around Lake Eola, there will also be an ice skating rink in Lake Eola Park to help Orlando celebrate the holiday season cheerfully despite drastic cuts in budgets.
Along with beautiful Lake Eola, another great sight to see is The VUE at Lake Eola. The VUE is a new 36-story, 375-unit luxury condo high rise in downtown Orlando, on the corner of Rosalind Avenue and Robinson Street. Residents of the VUE enjoy beautiful breathtaking views of Lake Eola Park year-round, and look forward to the holiday decor.
Walking distance from the developing Performing Arts Center and a great selection of Orlando bars and restaurants, this downtown luxury urban living Orlando high rise overlooks Lake Eola and its surrounding park, providing an unsurpassed luxury urban lifestyle.
